3 A10 www.MyCentralJersey.com HOME NEWS TRIBUNE MONDAY, AUGUST 3, 2009 OBITUARIES ES ELIZABETH BLASCO AGE: 88 COLONIA Elizabeth Blasco (Hren), 88, of Colonia, died peacefully at home on July 22, 2009 following a long illness. Born and raised in Steelton, Elizabeth moved with her husband Paul to New Jersey in 1950 and settled in Colonia in 1957. Elizabeth was a devout Roman Catholic and a parishioner of St. John Vianney Church since its inception in 1959. As a person of great faith she was deeply devoted to the workings of the church and remained an active member of the Altar Rosary Society until the time of her illness.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to so many who will miss her unique laugh and loving ways. Elizabeth was married for 58 years to her true love, Paul Blasco, who followed her in death while hospitalized in Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center on August 1, 2009. She is also predeceased by her sisters, Catherine Cackovic and Mary Hanich and brothers, Frank and Edward Hren. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Paul Blasco Jr. of Colonia; daughter, Anne (Blasco) Sobocienski and her husband, Don of Clark; sister, Cecelia Bosnjak of Middletown, PA.

and her grandchildren, Laura, and Michael Sobocienski. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9 AM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, followed by a 11 AM Mass at St. Helena's RC Church, Edison. Entombment to follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia.

Condolences to the family may be sent to ail.com. PAUL J. BLASCO AGE: 88 COLONIA Paul J. Blasco, 88, of Colonia, died peacefully at the JFK Haven Hospice in Edison on August 1, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Harrisburg, Paul was one of eleven children.

He attended Harrisburg Catholic High School, where he was the Captain of the football team. Paul was awarded an athletic scholarship to attend Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1943. Following graduation, Paul enlisted in the United States Marine attended basic training at Paris Island, South Carolina and officers training at Quantico, Va. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant and assigned to the 3rd Marine Division.

During WWII, Paul participated in the Pacific Islands operations of Guam and Iwo Jima as both a Rifle Platoon Leader and Company Commander. At the time of his discharge he had attained the rank of Captain. Paul became a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1947. After thirty years of service, he retired in 1977. During his career with the Bureau, Paul was the recipient of 12 commendations from Director J.

Edgar Hoover for his work in Foreign Counter In- telligence. Among Paul's notable accomplishments was his investigative work that resulted in the arrests and convictions of American communists, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg for their passing of military and dustrial information pertaining to the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. Paul's investigative work also led to the arrests and convictions on charges of espionage of Soviet Intelligence Officer, Rudolf Abel who was subsequently exchanged in the release of CIA U-2 pilot, Gary Powers in 1962 and American traitor, John Butenko. While in retirement, Paul pursued his passion for the game of golf. He played as often as was possible.

He was deeply devoted to his family and especially committed to his grandchildren. Paul was a devout Roman Catholic and a parishioner of St. John Vianney Church since its inception in 1959. Paul was married for 58 years to the love of his life, Elizabeth (Hren) Blasco who predeceased him in death on July 22, 2009. He is also predeceased by his brothers, John, Andrew and Michael Blasco and his sisters, Mary Zerance, Anne Horvath, Elizabeth Lippi and Helen Miller.

Paul is survived by his son, Paul Blasco Jr. of Colonia; daughter, Anne (Blasco) Sobocienski and her husband, Don of Clark; sisters, Margaret Lippi and Veronica Malesic; brother, Edward Blasco and grandchildren, Laura, Katie and Michael Sobocienski. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9 AM at the GOSSELIN FUNERAL HOME, 660 New Dover Road, Edison, followed by a 11 AM Mass at St. Helena's RC Church, Edison. Entombment to follow.

Born in Piscataway, he resided in Edison for many years. Mr. Goddard retired as 3 Deputy Supervisor for Middlesex County Board of Election in Edison after more than 25 years of service. Mr. Goddard served in the US Army during the Korean War.

He was an avid world traveler, and loved deep sea fishing. He was a life member and past NJ State Governor of Moose Lodge No. 1978 in Edison since 1975, reaching the highest degree of Pilgrim. He was also very active in many civic and community organizations. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Viola Rau Salzmann Goddard and Clarence William Goddard and his brothers, Howard Edward and George Salzmann; and his sisters, Gertrude Allen and Veronica Salzmann.

He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Goddard of Edison; and his five sons, Gottlieb Goddard Jr. of Stockbridge, Georgia, Mark G. Goddard of Marlboro, Keith Goddard of Pennsylvania, Glenn Goddard, and Howard Edward Goddard, both of Holly Hill, Florida; his two sisters, Violet Marie Murphy of Knoxville, Tennessee and Elizabeth Lott of Jackson; his two brothers, Clarence William Goddard of Pittsford, New York and Henry Salzmann of East Brunswick; and his nine grandchildren. LANGE AGE: 94 FORMERLY OF EDISON Emma P. Lange (nee Pastore), age 94, of Randolph, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at her residence in Randolph. She was born June 14, 1915 in Amsterdam, NY. She lived in Randolph for the last 4 years, prior to that she lived in Edison for 45 years. She was a communicant of The Church of the Guardian Angels; past president of the Bonhamtown Seniors; past vice president of the District 65 Retirees; and member of the Edison Seniors Bowling League.

She was an avid reader, bowler and gardener. She loved her dogs. She was predeceased by her husband, George L. Lange, in 1996; her grandson, Kevin Smith; her sister, Mary Rapello; and her brothers, Benjamin Pastore and Louis Pastore. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Smith and her husband Richard of Randolph; her son, Robert Barone of San Francisco; two sisters, Dorothy Quattrocchi of Amsterdam, NY, and Margie Nye of Amsterdam, NY; brother, Ralph Pastore of CA; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Brian.

Joseph RC Church in Carteret. She is predeceased by her husband, Raymond O'Donnell in 1999; her parents, John and Florence Kerins; and a sister, Barbara Kerins. and 7-9 p.m. ANTHONY PELLEGRINO AGE: 88 COLONIA Anthony Pellegrino, 88, of Colonia died Friday at the Clark Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. Born in Port Reading, he lived in Carteret before moving to Colonia in 1956. He worked as a Yard Forman for Oliver Manufacturing in Port Reading for 48 years. He then worked for Rood Distributors in Rahway as a Stock Forman before his retirement.

He was a US Army veteran, serving during WWII. He was a parishioner of St. John Vianney's RC Church in Colonia and a member of the Colonia Senior Citizens. His wife, Yolan "Jennie" Pellegrino died in 1998. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Nancy Pellegrino of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and David Levine of Allentown, Pennsylvania; sisters, Anna Pellegrino and Jennie Ciardiello, both of Colonia, Louisa Lukasiuk of Carteret and Teresa MacDonald of New York City; and 3 grandchildren.

JOHN E. SPENCER AGE: 79 SAYREVILLE John E. Spencer, 79, of the Morgan section of Sayreville, passed away peacefully on 1 Sunday, August 2, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in South Amboy he lived in Morgan all of his life. Before retiring in 1991, he was employed as head of security by Pathmark where he worked for 30 years.

He also owned Spencer's Tropical Fish in Morgan for many years. John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW Post 4699, Sayreville. He was a founding member of the South Amboy Boat Club a and a member of the Cloverleaf String Band in South Amboy for many years. He worked as a guard at the South Amboy Roller Rink in his younger years and enjoyed raising and racing pigeons.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Spencer, his brother, James Spencer and his sister, Mary Pollack. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Bill Spencer; 2 sons, Daniel and. Before her retirement she was employed as a court clerk for the Borough of Sayreville for many years. Mrs Payco was a communicant of Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church in Sayreville. Irene is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Payco, in 2001; also by her son-in-law, Giuseppe Lo Regio; her parents, Paul and Wilma Pisak; her sister, Dolores Chyzik; and her brother, Ernest Pisak. Surviving are her son, Thomas M.

Payco of Metuchen; her daughter, Diane Lo Regio of Lambertville; her grandchildren, Thomas, Steven, Noel, Giordano and Bianca and her sister Nancy Kucaba.
