1) Never before have I been *so astonished with a wedding. * Only when the woman *accepts the proposal are the couple engaged.
2) The bigger the party is, the more arrangements will be needed. (this one is already correct, although it is passive).

Not only do couples want to show their friends and relatives their happiness, but also **they want **to set up a family (added "they want" to make the sentence more clear, but it is not technically necessary).
