Favorite Breakfast Recipes (2024)

Favorite Breakfast Recipes (1)

I store all of my favorite and most-used recipes in page protectors in a 3-inch binder that stays in my closet. When I make my meal plan, I choose one or two new recipes and then the rest are old standbys from the binder. I clean it out a few times a year to make room for new recipes we try and love. I’ve had several requests to talk about my favorite recipes by category, so let’s do this! Where should we start? Well…they do say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so let’s talk about my favorite breakfast recipes.

Oh Breakfast, how do I love thee…let me count the ways.

I may have mentioned a time or two…or two hundred…that breakfast is one of my favorite meals. I could literally eat it every day for the rest of my life 😉 A while back, I shared my10 Easy, Go-To Breakfastsand I received a lot of comments on how much y’all loved that. I’ve also let y’all in on my secret tostress-free mornings with my Solution For Your Breakfast Woes. Make-aheadbreakfastsfor the win! This post isn’t quite that focused – in this post, we’re focused on a lot of my favorite recipes, but what you do with them and when is all up to you.

Oatmeal:

Favorite Breakfast Recipes (2)Snickers Overnight Oatmeal– from Katie over at Dashing Dish

Pumpkin Oatmeal – This is from the Deceptively Delicious cookbook. You can use sweet potato or pumpkin, whichever you have on hand.

Strawberry Shortcake Oatmeal– this recipe is from the Oatmeal artist. As her blog name suggests, she has SOOO many oatmeal recipes. This is our go-to summer oatmeal recipe.

Steel Cut Oatmeal with Bananas and Cobbler Topping – This incredibly yummy oatmeal recipe is from Lauren’s Latest. But fair warning y’all – it is super sweet. For that reason, I don’t make it often… but when I do, it’s a treat everyone loves.

Dark Chocolate Chunk Cheesecake Baked Oatmeal. I absolutely love this recipe from How Sweet Eats. I keep this around because sometimes a girl just needs cheesecake for breakfast 😉 . The recipe calls for 4oz of Marscapone Cheese but I always use cream cheese instead because it’s what I’ve got on hand.

Brownie Batter Overnight Oatmeal– another favorite overnight oats recipe by Katie at the Dashing Dish.

Snickers Oatmeal – this is one from me. It’s probably my kids’ favorite oatmeal recipe.

Baked Apple and Peanut Butter steel cut oats– this is a recipe submitted by a member on Tasty Kitchen. My family loves it because each recipe is for one serving – so everyone gets their own individual, little ramekin – it’s a fun treat.

Funfetti Baked Oats – I got this recipe from the blog Life Hands You Limes. It’s not an everyday oatmeal recipe, but is one I like to make occasionally for birthday treats. As I’m sure you can imagine, the kids love the sprinkles inside.

Basic Baked Steel Cut Oats – this is another Humorous Homemaking “original.” It’s basically just a steel cut oats version of my baked oatmeal.

Revised Baked Oatmeal – this one is also mine. It’s the rolled oats version. And I have to admit – to this day, it is still one of my most visited blog posts!

Apple Peanut Butter Overnight Oats – this recipe is from the Lemon Bowl. In case you haven’t noticed we eat a lot of oats in our house! We especially love overnight oat recipes, like this one in the summer so we don’t have to heat up the kitchen.

Pancakes and Waffles:

Cinnamon Whole Grain Power Pancakes– found on Pinch of Yum. I always seem to make these whenever I have extra cottage cheese. I love that you just throw the ingredients in a blender and whir it up!

German Pancake – this is another on of my recipes. I’ll be honest, the kids don’t like this as much as Barry and I do. They think it’s too eggy. But we still make it from time to time.

Whole Wheat Chocolate Pancakes – from Crystal, the Money-Saving Mom. These pancakes are my children’s favorite. I think this recipe is pretty sweet… to me they taste like pancake brownies! I only really make these for special occasions.

Baked Pancake – this recipe from Please Give Peas A Chance is so easy. I probably make this every few weeks. I always double the recipe and bake it in a 9×13 pan. I think it’s delicious with chocolate chips or fruit added in.

Lemon Pancakes – the Pioneer Woman never disappoints. And these pancakes are AWESOME! We had these before church on Sunday with a side if bacon and everyone agreed that they were amazing.

Snickerdoodle Waffles – this recipe from Lil’ Luna is one of my go-to recipes whenever we’ve got company for breakfast. It’s cinnamon and sugar coated waffles – what’s not to love? These are delicious!

Waffle French Toast–this recipe is one of mine. It’s basically just french toast that you put in the waffle maker so it goes a lot faster. It’s a family favorite.

Spicy Yeast Pancakes – Found this recipe from Red Star Yeast on the Fake Ginger blog. It’s a batter that you make ahead of time – it needs to sit on the counter for about an hour. The warm spices take these pancakes over the top

Sandwiches, Casseroles, and Mexican-style Breakfasts:

Skillet Breakfast Nachos – if you haven’t made breakfast nachos… what’s the matter with you? Just Kidding! I love this recipe because you can customize it to your tastes. Start by cooking all the topping ingredients, spread on nachos, sprinkle with cheese and then, bake until the cheese melts. Easy peasy, not to mention YUMMY!

Easy Breakfast Casserole– another great recipe from Heavenly Homemakers. I like it because I can use up whatever I have on hand. I can make it plain with just cheese, or add chicken, bacon, sausage, taco meat, vegetables, etc.

Overnight Tex Mex Egg Bake– this recipe is from a little known cook, Betty Crocker. 😉 This casserole is great for two reasons… 1) It is VERY filling and 2) I like that I can fix it the night before and bake in the morning. These two reasons make it a perfect breakfast for Sunday morning!

Avocado Egg Sandwich – it’s literally an egg, avocado and some sort of bread. An English muffin or any whole grain bread works great. This recipe is from the Lemon Bowl, but to be honest, you almost don’t need a recipe! You can add ham, cheese, tomato slice – this recipe is easy to customize and very delicious.

Breakfast Quesadilla – This recipe is from Deep South Dish and it’s one I make a lot before church. With all the cheese, ham, and eggs served tortillas – it is VERY filling. No rumbling tummies in church with this breakfast.

Breakfast Tostadas – I found these on the blog Happy Wives Club. I’m a huge fan because they are so fresh and delicious. A perfect way to use up those “taco” ingredient like beans, rices, guacamole, cilantro, sour cream, salsa, etc. that you might have in your fridge.

Migas – this recipe from Taste of Home is another one that my kids don’t like (they just aren’t big fans of eggs!), but Barry and I love it. If you’ve never made Migas before, it’s worth a try – you might find out you’re a fan too.

Breakfast Burritos in a Jar – this is one of my newer recipes that Barry and I think makes a great spring or summer breakfast. Just like the breakfast tostadas, this is another recipe that will help you use up extra taco toppings you might have leftover from a taco night earlier in the week.

Breakfast sliders – this is a recipe of mine that I’ve shared about several times. It is great to make in advance! We like ours with ham and cheese, you can add whatever breakfast meat or filling you’d like.

Cakes and Muffins:

Oaty Maple Breakfast Cake. Y’all know I love Good Cheap Eats – and this breakfast cake is a really winner. We think this is even good without the glaze on top.

Lemon Crumble Breakfast Cake – I love this breakfast treat from Saving Room For Dessert. this makes a great holiday breakfast.

Maple and brown sugar oatmeal muffins– if you google, you can find tons of this flavor muffin. Some call for Greek yogurt and/or eggs, but this recipe from Mother Thyme is dairy and egg free.

Favorite Breakfast Recipes (5)

Honey Bran Muffins – If y’all have been following me for a while, you know that Bran muffins are my favorite kind of muffin EVER. This recipe from Nurse Loves Farmer is one of my favorites! I use Trader Joe’s 100% bran cereal.

Mom is Great Breakfast Cake – this yummy recipe is other one I borrowed from Heavenly Homemakers. We all think it is ridiculously good, but VERY crumbly. Sometimes, I just crumble the cake in a bowl and top with a scoop of yogurt – almost like a parfait.

Mini Maple Chocolate chip Pancake muffins – another recipe submitted by Bakerella that I discovered on Tasty Kitchen. There is really nothing better than tiny muffin-shaped pancakes that you can dip into warm maple syrup.

Miscellaneous:

Cinnamon Raisin Bagels – This recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction is hands down the best bagel recipe I’ve ever used. Making bagels is time-consuming so I don’t make them often, but when I do I always use this recipe.

Homemade Grape Nuts– from Heavenly Homemakers

Homemade Granola Bars – this one comes from my website. It’s a baked granola bar recipe so reminds me of granola bar crossed with an oatmeal cookie.

Cottage Cheese Parfaits– this is another “non recipe” kind of recipe that I found on Pinterest. All you do is layer cottage Cheese, fruit, chopped nuts, granola, shredded coconut – whatever you like!

Peanut Butter Kefir Smoothies– this recipe of mine is seriously my favorite way to drink Kefir Smoothies.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Lovers’ Granola– another delicious recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction. Barry loves this one – and it’s great to have on hand for snacks too.

Cinnamon PB granola – this is one of my recipes. It just so happens to be Barry’s favorite granola recipe. I’ve been making this for a LONG time.

Whew, there you have it! My very long list of favorite breakfast recipes. Do you have any you think I should add to this list? What’s your favorite breakfast recipe?
