Alex is one of the six bachelors available to marry in Stardew Valley. He is a young, athletic resident of the Valley who is interested in pursuing professional sports. To befriend and potentially date Alex, you can bond with him over physical fitness and his love of dogs. This guide includes everything you need to get closer to Alex's heart!

Alex Basics

Alex lives at 1 River Road with Evelyn and George, his grandparents. Besides being close to his grandparents, Alex is friends with Haley. He is also the caretaker of Dusty, the dog who lives in the center of Pelican Town. His birthday is on Summer 13.

Alex Schedule

In Spring and Fall, Alex spends most days either lifting weights in his room or hanging out by Dusty's dog pen. In Summer, he hangs out at the Beach until noon and works at the Ice Cream Stand from 12PM to 5PM. In Winter, he works out at the Spa during the day. On Wednesdays, Alex hangs out with Haley at her house.

Alex attends all festivals. He has an appointment at Harvey's Clinic on Summer 16. He may choose to visit Ginger Island on random days once the resort is opened.

Alex Quests

Alex is not involved in any Story Quests or plot-related Quests. He is one of the characters who can ask for items on the Help Wanted board outside of Pierre's General Store.

Alex Gift Guide

Because he's interested in fitness, Alex prefers nutritious meals - including Eggs, which it turns out he eats raw for extra protein! He is not a fan of books and has a hatred for Quartz. Here are the gifts you should give Alex, and which ones are better off handed to a different villager instead.

Alex Movie Theater

Alex loves most movies, but his particular favorites are It Howls in the Rain and Wumbus. His only hated movie is Natural Wonders.

His Loved Concessions are Salmon Burger and Stardrop Sorbet.

Alex Heart Events

Like all romanceable characters, Alex has many special encounters that will occur based on your Friendship level, plus a bonus 14-Heart event that will happen if you make him your husband.

In addition to his heart events, Alex will sometimes ask you about his sports future or his haircut. In general, responding positively about his sports skills and looks will earn you Friendship points.

Enter the Beach on any sunny day in Summer while Alex is there (generally before noon.) He will talk about his professional gridball dreams. None of the dialogue choices in this event have any positive or negative effect on friendship.

Enter Pelican Town on any non-major festival day between 9AM and 4PM. You will overhear Alex talking with Dusty, and learn more about his past. None of the dialogue choices in this event have any positive or negative effect on friendship.

Enter Alex's house any time he is inside. He will talk about how he feels self-conscious because he is not book-smart. Respond with "We all have our strengths and weaknesses" to earn 50 Friendship Points.

Enter Alex's house any time he is inside. He will express his doubts about his future as a gridball player.

Enter the Beach on any sunny day when Alex is there (including days he just passes through it to visit Ginger Island.) Alex will talk about missing his mother and his memories of her. None of the dialogue choices in this event have any positive or negative effects on friendship.

Alex's 10-Heart event is available ONLY if you have given him a Bouquet and asked him to date you. It is not required to reach Perfection unless you choose him as your love interest.

Alex will send you a letter in the mail. After receiving the letter, enter the Stardrop Saloon between 7PM and 10PM. You will have a romantic dinner date with Alex where he reveals his crush on you.

If you marry Alex, this event can trigger in Year 2 or later. It will only occur if you leave your house between 6AM and 8:20AM on a day other than Sunday. You must also have at least 5000g available. Alex will ask for 5000g for a "secret project."

On the next Sunday, enter the Stardrop Saloon to see that Alex has created a gridball viewing room for watching the games, which he does with several other villagers.

Alex Marriage

You can marry Alex by giving him a Mermaid's Pendant after reaching 10 Hearts. After marriage, Alex will move into the farmhouse. His private room is a training gym, and he may also lift weights outside in the nook behind the farmhouse.

After marriage, Alex spends most of his time on the farm. He visits his grandparents on Mondays. After viewing his 14-Heart event, he watches gridball in the Stardrop Saloon on Sundays.

Alex may decide to make you breakfast, upon which he will give you Hashbrowns, an Omelet, or Pancakes. He may also make dinner on rainy nights. The dinners he can make are Baked Fish, Crispy Bass, Dish O' The Sea, Fried Eel, and Survival Burger. He does not give you a New Year's gift.
